“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.”
― Victor Hugo
Private lessons are provided for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age and level. Ensemble/group lessons may be available as well, depending on whether I have students who work well together. Please contact me for a free consultation and tuition rates.
All students learn note-reading, theory, proper technique, memorization, ear training, performance skills, and music appreciation. Those who are interested may pursue playing by ear, lead sheets, and music composition. Recitals and performance opportunities for solo and ensemble playing are available throughout the year.
Students with Gifted and Special Needs
I accept all students, regardless of age, level, ability or disability. In 25 years, I’ve worked with students with ADD, dyslexia, Asperger’s, and Down’s syndrome, as well as those with special talents for music, and I’ve never met a student who couldn’t learn. My conclusion is that all of us have unique needs. I try to provide encouragement, accountability, reasonable expectations and a timeline that is appropriate to each individual. If I'm not the right teacher for you, I'll work to find someone who is. Music is too important to be exclusive.
Students are expected to practice daily on either an acoustic piano or digital keyboard. The length of time will vary, but daily practice is essential to progress. (For info and motivational tips, see FAQs)
Payment is due at the beginning of each month for that month’s lessons. Please bring cash or check.
Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice of cancellation when possible. Illness and emergencies happen, and I try to accommodate by either crediting the lesson or providing a makeup lesson. However, repeated cancellations without 24 hours notice will not be refunded.
